At what age can my child begin classes?Students must be 2 years old in order to be registered in Pre-Ballet 1.

How does CSCB determine which level my child should take?Our level placement process helps ensure that each student is placed in the appropriate class based on their technique, coordination, maturity level, and experience. New students will be evaluated by our instructors during their first class to determine their level placement. Please know that often students are expected to spend at least one to two years in a particular level before moving to the next.

How do I register for classes at CSCB?After your child has taken a placement class and a level has been determined by one of our instructors, you may register in person at our studio, email us, or call us to get set up.

How do I register for adult classes?We currently offer beginning and Beginning/Intermediate open adult ballet classes. Classes are $20 each or you may sign up for monthly classes. 1 class a week is $65 a month, and 2 classes a week is $115 a month. You may just show up or you can call/email us ahead of time. Can my child just do drop-in classes?We offer drop-in classes for any of our conditioning classes, ballet classes on Saturday, and our Adult Classes. All of our weekday ballet and contemporary classes are closed for drop-ins.

Can parents watch classes?From outside the classroom only. We have a glass door to view your dancers from the hallway. Parents are not allowed to chat with or correct students who are in class.

What happens if my child misses a class?Students are allowed to take a make-up class in any class of their same level or below and in any of the conditioning classes. Make-up classes must be made up within 30 days of the missed class to ensure that our students remain on track with their ballet education.

How many children are in each class?Class size varies depending on the level. Our Pre-Ballet classes do not exceed 12 students. Our Lower and Upper Division classes do not exceed 15-20 students.

What is dress code?Girls (levels 1-5) Ballet: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a neat bun. No jewelry allowed with the exception of small stud earrings. Short skirts are allowed during pointe. Conditioning and contemporary: Dancers may wear what they feel most comfortable in as long as it is all appropriate to move in. Boys (levels 1-5) Ballet: White shirt, black leggings/tights/shorts, white socks with white ballet shoes or black socks with black ballet shoes. No jewelry allowed with the exception of small stud earrings. Shorts are only permitted up to level 2. Conditioning and contemporary: Dancers may wear what they feel most comfortable in as long as it is all appropriate to move in. Pre-Ballet 1: Dancers are allowed to wear whatever color leotard you would like, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a neat bun. Pre-Ballet dancers are allowed to wear skirts and tutus. Boys: Whatever color shirt, black shorts and ballet shoes. Pre-Ballet 2: Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a neat bun. No jewelry allowed with the exception of small stud earrings. Pre-Ballet dancers are allowed to wear skirts and tutus. Boys: White shirt, black leggings/tights/shorts, white socks with white ballet shoes or black socks with black ballet shoes. Adults: Adult dancers may wear what they feel most comfortable in as long as it is all appropriate dance attire. We do however require proper ballet shoes. Saturdays: Saturdays are our free color leotard/shirt day. You may wear whatever color leotard/shirt you would like. The rest of the dress code still applies.

Are there any other expenses besides the tuition?CSCB charges a yearly $35 registration fee per student or a $50 registration fee per family. Other fees may include any private lessons or competition fees.

Does CSCB offer private lessons?Yes, private lessons are available by appointment. This can be for private technique, audition prep, or performance coaching. Please email the school at californiaclassicalballet@gmail.com for scheduling and studio availability. 30 min private- $40 60 min private- $75 Semi-private (60 mins)- $40 each dancer Trio private (60 mins)- $32 per dancer Small group training (4-8 dancers) $25 per dancer
